Kelsey Hendrix with Epperly Travel
Hello, or All Aboard, or Cheers!
I’m so excited to be a part of the Epperly Travel team (having joined in August 2015, and come on board full time in September, 2016). I’d love to tell you a bit more about myself, and how I came to be in the travel industry, following my passion which is OCD-style planning, with hints of wanderlust mixed with the joy of helping people plan life changing trips.
What’s with the “All Aboard!”?
I started my career in the hospitality industry working at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. I was a conductor on the railroad that encircles Magic Kingdom – hence the “all aboard”. I loved my time at Disney – totally drank the kool aid as they say (or really – the pixie dust). I grew up taking Spring Break trips to Disney, and jumped when the opportunity to become a cast member presented itself. I spent five months working while taking courses through the Disney College program – and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat! I always offered to plan Disney vacations for friends and family – and love giving people the insider tips and tricks.
Ok, what’s with Cheers?
For the last two years, I worked for one of the country’s leading wedding planners at TOAST events. I started in the wedding industry with zero experience, and for a year provided support to the lead planner & owner, Lindsay Sims. By the second year I was producing and managing my own events (here’s where the OCD- planning skills come in to play). I loved working with couples on coordinating every detail of their big day, knowing I played a role in a day they’ll never forget.
So what now?
I met Lindsey Epperly at a networking event in Atlanta in February, 2015. Lindsey had planned honeymoons for several of my co-workers at TOAST, and was a name I instantly recognized (mainly from following along & being green with envy on Instagram!). A few months later I expressed interest in getting started in the travel industry, and after a quick coffee, she offered me a job. We worked together for a year, and when Lindsey needed someone in the office full time, she offered me the position as her luxury travel assistant.
So here I am today. I work in the office daily crafting itineraries with Lindsey for her honeymooners through Italy, families island hopping in Hawaii, anniversary couples in the Caribbean and more. I’m fortunate to be learning from the best – and plan to expand my knowledge of destinations around the world through continued education and face-to-face meetings with suppliers.
