When my rep began telling me about the Fairmont Southampton, he didn’t start with the obvious facts: ideal for all travelers, set perfectly on the pink sand beaches, all of the typical selling points of a resort like this. Instead, he went straight for the food with a mouthwatering review of the Waterlot Inn, a nearly 350 year old restaurant that has been the recipient of the AAA Four-Diamond award, amongst many others. The venue is sure to transport guests back in time from the moment they step through the doors, where the decor includes original meat cleavers from centuries ago, progressing all the way up to modern-day stainless steel versions. The restaurant is definitely a hit for both foodies and history buffs.
But, the Fairmont Southampton has so much more going for it beyond a rich history. Perched atop the highest point on the island, the 600 room property is a resort unlike any other in Bermuda. The Waterlot Inn is one of 9 on-site restaurants and the spa is certainly worth noting. The Willowstream Spa, a signature brand of the Fairmont properties, is 31,000 square feet and features a men, women’s and couples’ lounge (great for honeymooners!), and even boasts a private pool just for spa guests.
Guests can expect all the traditional features of a resort, but to an even greater degree. For example, don’t just expect a nice beach: be prepared to relax on one of Bermuda’s most pristine pink-sand beaches. And don’t just expect a run-of-the-mill golf course on the island that has more golf courses per square mile than any other country in the world. At the Southampton, you should expect only the best: the Fairmont Southampton Golf Club has been recognized as the most challenging and scenic par-3 executive course. Bermuda is renowned as a golf and beach destination and the Fairmont Southampton captures that atmosphere perfectly.
The property is great for a romantic getaway or for the entire family. Kids can enjoy the Explorer’s Camp, a program that’s both educational and fun, from learning about Bermuda to partying in their own, kid-friendly nightclub.
Of course, the straight-from-a-postcard setting is perfect for honeymoons and couples getaways. The resort’s size and all that it has to offer makes it a fantastic option for destination weddings, as well (which I specialize in planning!).
Travelers can look forward to a number of other activities, from watersports to taking the ferry over to the Fairmont Hamilton Princess for a night out on the town. That’s not all guest’s have to look forward to: when you book this beautiful property through Vacations by Lindsey, we’re able to offer exclusive amenities, like complimentary breakfast, upgrades upon arrival when available, and a $100 food & beverage credit.
