Sometimes I get crushes on our partner companies. I’m talking schoolgirl, write the property’s name in hearts on my notebook kind of crushes. What’s my latest obsession?
Capella Pedregal.
The crashing waves along the shore. The cliffside hotel rooms. The plunge pools.
It’s enough to make me go weak at the knees. When I talk about the property, I get all tongue tied because I just can’t explain how great it is you just have to go here and see it yourself and write me postcards because all I really want to do is visit, just for a few minutes even, just once in my lifetime.
Sorry. That was a prime example.
What is it that draws me to Capella Pedregal, that makes it so special? There are a number of reasons, but one of my favorite aspects of a good property is a definable sense of place. Cabo itself is known for being a location where the sea meets the desert meets the mountains – and Capella Pedregal captures that perfectly.
The property is located along the side of Pedregal Mountain, a beautiful formation on the other side of the heart of Cabo and the marina. Guests arrive to the property through a private entrance, a tunnel blasted through the base of the mountain, lined with chandeliers and fire torches. At the end of the tunnel, a stunning light shines through – the sun shining over the Pacific Ocean.
Once at the property, one feels millions of miles away from civilization. The desert landscape and mountainous backdrop create a dramatic juxtaposition with the waves crashing below. However, while it feels completely isolated, guests only need to take a quick walk or golf cart ride back through the mountain to reach downtown Cabo, perfect for sightseeing, dining, and a little nightlife. What guests of Capella Pedregal find, though, is that even though the city is so convenient – this resort is the kind of place you never want to leave.
Guests can enjoy watching the waves crash from the ocean over a pina colada from the beachside pool or, for a little more seclusion, they can enjoy the sweeping views from their own private plunge pools. Every room at Capella Pedregal has a terrace with a plunge pool and ocean views. Inside the rooms, the Mexican influenced decor with its dark wood furnishings is best described as both contemporary and elegant. The resort itself is perfect for a quiet getaway, ideal for couples, while the neighboring residences offer 2-4 bedroom options, complete with full kitchens and access to a kids pool – a great getaway for families.
The property places a strong emphasis on connecting guests with the local culture and flavors. Not only do they offer an array of culinary-inspired activities, like Mexican wine and tequila tastings, they also provide guests the opportunity to spend a full day with the chef. Guests accompany the chef to the local market and organic farms outside of Cabo, help select the meats, fresh fish, and produce for the day, then come back to the hotel for a Baja-inspired cooking demonstration.
Capella Pedregal is truly an escape that will delight the senses – from the Baja flavors to the dramatic visuals – and it’s one that tops my own bucket list. So, after reading about it, does it top yours, too?
