FriFotos: Sweets from Around the World

If there’s one category that I’m an expert on, besides travel, it would be sweets. Chocolate, specifically, but I’m not too picky when it comes to this subject. I am a dessert connoisseur, which is why I LOVED this week’s theme on #FriFotos. In an effort to create a blog for foodies, photo-lovers, and travel enthusiasts, here is a roundup of some of my favorite desserts from across the globe:

 

 

The Four Seasons – Vail, Colorado

From the signature haute chocolate served in Flame restaurant for breakfast, to every in-room amenity we received, this place knows its sweets. The mastermind pastry chef behind all of these decadent creations should be praised and awarded, if they haven’t already been.

The Westin Excelsior – Rome, Italy

I do love the Westin Excelsior, it’s my go-to hotel when traveling to Rome. Besides being a fabulous property, their welcome amenity, pictured below, is a replica of the fabulous property filled with macarons. Do amenities get any cuter than that? I think not.

Also, their breakfast is some of the best in the business (which, of course, I am able to give to any guest who books through me – same goes for every property mentioned in this post! Free breakfast for EVERYONE!). That chocolate croissant featured below was complimentary for the breakfast buffet and hands-down one of the best pastries of my life. Also an example of great photography on my part because usually I forget to take a photo before I take a bite of something that scrumptious…

The Ritz Carlton Lodge Reynolds Plantation – Greensboro, GA

The entire atmosphere of the Ritz Reynolds is that of a campground, for kids and adults. And you know what that means?

S’MORES.

This place makes the most delectable s’mores concoctions that you will ever encounter. For example, that marshmallow sandwiched in between two freshly baked chocolate chip cookies is hiding a secret ingredient: ANDES MINTS. Warning: do not try this at home, it is highly addictive. I’m speaking from experience here.

Not only are their s’mores delicious, they serve a s’mores martini that’s out of this world…and where else are you going to get a s’mores martini?!

The Viceroy Anguilla

I know, I know. More breakfast talk – but if your complimentary breakfast came with both an omelette and crepe bar, you’d be bragging, too. That’s exactly why you should put the Viceroy Anguilla on your bucket list. There’s a little thing in life I like to call “Breakfast Dessert,” which is exactly what it sounds like: the most overlooked meal of the day unless you’re on vacation at a fancypants resort with a crepe bar, in which case you’re allowed to indulge in a Nutella Crepe for “Breakfast Dessert” after you’ve cleaned your plate of Eggs Benedict.

Breakfast Dessert. Educate yourself.

The Celebrity Silhouette

I recently experienced Celebrity Cruises firsthand and one of the most notable aspects was the fantastic sweets. From giant cookies to freshly made ice cream, this ship was just trying to tempt my sweet tooth (is it a temptation if you don’t feel guilty afterwards? Maybe tempt isn’t the right word). One of my favorite desserts was at the Tuscan Grill: this Hazelnut Creme Brulee was perfected by the pop rocks hidden in the crust. CREME BRULEE THAT POPS IN YOUR MOUTH?!

I’ll take two, please.
