Honeymoon Adventure in South Africa

Our clients Tom & Kate found Epperly Travel through a quick Google search. Kate had done her research and wanted desperately to honeymoon in her dream location – The Greek Islands. Unfortunately the time of year Kate and Tom were looking to honeymoon was not an ideal time to visit Greece. Kate placed her trust in Lindsey, after just having met her, and allowed her to come up with some fabulous alternatives! Kate and Tom ended up selecting South Africa and spent their time hiking, going on a Safari, and finally resting by the pool and in the spa. To learn more about their South African adventure, read the below testimonial from Kate and view their stunning photos from the trip.

My husband and I got married in November and were dead set on a honeymoon in Greece. I had been dreaming of the Isles for years but saving it for the post-wedding trip. I planned every detail of our entire wedding and I wanted someone else, with similar travel sensibilities and an understanding of exactly what we were looking for, to plan for us. I found Lindsey Epperly online and decided to give her a call. She was immediately warm and friendly. I told her how excited we were to go to Greece and asked if she would help plan. Lindsey said “I don’t want to break your heart but…” and continued to explain why Greece, in November, was a risky choice. Now you might be thinking that that was where I hung up or decided to go with another “travel agent” but that is just the opposite of what happened. She knew so much about the ins and out of traveling within the Isles, specifically as it related to what we wanted to do on our honeymoon (confirmed foodies and hikers). By telling me the truth, staying positive, and looking out for our best interest, she definitely won my business.

Lindsey was able to come up with quite a few suggestions to look into for lovely November adventures. We ended up deciding to go to South Africa and I do not regret the decision. We spent 4 days discovering the food and mountains around Cape Town and taking a gorgeous tour of the Winelands. The apartment style lodging that Lindsey found was perfect for our jam-packed urban touring. Every morning we woke up to a stunning breakfast spread overlooking Table Mountain. After that we flew to the east coast of South Africa for a few days of safari. We stayed at Shumbalala Lodge in Thornybush. The staff greeted us when we arrived with a lunchtime assortment of goodies and fresh iced coffee drinks. The setting was intimate and breathtaking. We could watch the baby warthogs and impala bathing in the pond from our floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor shower. This was the ultimate in pampering without feeling smothered. The whole staff was knowledgeable and friendly – in fact, our guide, Wiehan, was up for #1 safari guide in South Africa and had to fly to his testing while we were there. So impressive! After early mornings and long days out in the jeeps, we looked forward to picking a wine in the lodge’s cellar and having a delicious meal with the other guests (no more than 10). We finished our amazing trip on the island of Mauritius, for some traditional honeymooning – all-inclusive style. At this point, we were so excited to just lie by the sparkling water and drink…and drink. We were able to go scuba diving, take wind-surfing lessons and enjoy a massage at the spa. Going home was hard.

Lindsey Epperly created the perfect itinerary and having someone that we could contact throughout our journey gave us great peace of mind. She has a kind demeanor and always took my calls when planning but also gave her opinion when making the tougher decisions.   My husband and I were so incredibly pleased with the whole experience. We would use Epperly Travel again without thinking twice, and I will share the link with family and friends. She certainly won a client for life.”
