For those seeking luxury on the sands of Waikiki Beach, look no further than the famed Pink Palace: The Royal Hawaiian. This soft pink hotel has been an icon of Oahu for years, which is why it’s standing as one of Starwood’s Luxury Collection Hotels makes perfect sense. The Luxury Collection Hotels pride themselves in unique history and an environment that is true to its surroundings, a definition that could have been written explicitly for the Royal Hawaiian.
The property is made of two separate areas, the original, historic main building and the newer, more contemporary Royal Beach Tower. No matter which building, the rooms are all elegantly designed with the high Luxury Collection standards in mind. I personally like to recommend one of the Tower Ocean Guestrooms, since they offer a balcony with picture-perfect views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
The Royal Hawaiian’s location is ideal – situated on a beautiful stretch of private beach (and complete with pink beach chairs, of course), the property is great for a Waikiki experience. I personally love the atmosphere of Waikiki – bustling city streets with fantastic shopping, long, white stretches of beaches, perfect for learning to surf (or watching others ride the waves).
While some report a “touristy” feel, staying at a resort like the Royal Hawaiian completely changes that. While the resort is large, the level of customer service is unparalleled.
The property is also known for its fantastic, large destination weddings – if you have guests flying in from all over the world, Oahu is generally the easiest island to access and the Waikiki Beach area is perfect for large groups.
Just like with our other partner properties, I’m happy to offer complimentary amenities here for clients who book through me: daily breakfast, an upgrade if available, and a $100 resort credit.
