LAST MINUTE LUXURY GETAWAYS
You don’t have to fly to some exotic destination just to relax on a great vacation. Driving destinations are popular option for this Labor Day holiday weekend.
AAA predicted 33 million Americans will hit the highways and travel 50 miles or more.
Lindsey Epperly with Columbus Travel said, “People are still wanting to go on vacation regardless of the financial circumstances. They still are wanting to get away from it all and find a great trip for their family and really create those lasting memories.”
Although gas prices are rising Epperly said driving is still cheaper than trying to book an airline ticket right now.
The Ritz Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation is only three hours away from Columbus on Lake Oconee in Georgia.
“Lake Oconee is great. You know we live close to a couple of lakes here but we don’t have anything like this spectacular property.”
Epperly said you’ll get undivided attention at the resort.
“It’s this enormous Ritz Carlton property but they manage to make the customer service about each individual client. So you really get a fantastic experience out of it instead of just going to stay in a condo. You’re actually in a hotel where they are focusing on you.”
She says for two people it will run about $1,400 dollars for three nights and it has a little something for everyone.
“They’ve got kayaking and jet skiing but it was also a great girls trip too. They have a fantastic spa. It’s actually been voted one of the top in the country,” said Epperly.
If you want more of a beach feel, the Ritz Amelia Island is right outside of Jacksonville, Florida.
The resort will cost you about $1,300 for two people for three days.
